Independent Study Verifies benefits of the Harvard Oil Extender Program

For over two decades, Harvard Corporation has promoted the economic benefits of their Oil Extender Program. This program, using the Harvard™ brand patented off-line regulated flow filter, is designed to extend oil and equipment life by significantly reducing the size and number of contaminants in oil.

After evaluating the Harvard™ brand filter, the CHMR at the University of Pittsburgh Applied Research Center drew the following conclusions:

  • Harvard™ brand filters are an effective means to reduce the contaminant concentration in engine, hydraulic, automatic transmission, or machine oils
  • the Oil Extender Program can reduce oil consumption (and associated oil wastes) by 50% or more
  • The reduction in the contaminant concentration can significantly reduce the internal wear on engine or machine parts
  • The savings from the reduction in oil replacement and disposal alone are sufficient to offset the costs of the Harvard™ Oil Extender Program
